oofem can't solve with the data above . what's wrong ? Help me!

New Extractor

Hi Borek,

I used to use the old extractor but seems that it's incompatible with the arbitrary numbering.
So I switched to the new extractor.
The problem that I'm facing is it seems that it has a problem to open the input file.
here is the error:

IOError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: 'OCTHole1000.oofem.out\r'

It seems that it thinks the return character is included in the file name and because of that it cannot locate the file.

I would appreciate it if you could help me with this.

Orthotropic NonLocal

Dear Borek,

I'm implementing my Orthotropic Averaging scheme in OOFEM.
To do so, I have made new nonlocal interface and structural nonlocal interface classes to deal with an array of weights not an scalar weight.

The problem is in the StructuralElement class, the "StructuralNonlocalMaterialExtensionInterface" class is called to handle the preparations for non-local averaging and this is not the interface that my non-local scheme belongs to.

I was wondering what's your suggestion.
Shall I modify the existing non-local interfaces and make them capable of dealing with both isotropic and orthotropic averaging?

Help on installation of Ckit and Elixir on Mac pro (10.5.8)

This is a Mac user. I am trying to install OOFEM along with Ckit and Elixir on my Mac pro (10.5.8). But I am having a couple of problems with Ckit and Elixir.

For Ckit, I ran ./configure and make all. At the very end I received the following error:

Error when using FETI solver

I'm trying to use FETI solver for linear static problem. I tried to use existing tests (tests\partests\4test\4test.oofem.in and tests\partests\brazil3d\brazil_3d_nl.oofem.in) - I replaced Analysis record ("linearstatic nsteps 1 lstype 3 smtype 7" in case of 4test) with "plinearstatic nsteps 1 lstype 5 maxerr 1.0e-5 limit 1.0e-5 maxiter 50 ". But when I run it I get error

I googled this error and it looks like it happens when receiver buffer has smaller size than incoming message. But I don't know what to do next

I run OOFEM from command line:

I'm using OOFEM 1.9 with MPICH (under Windows, Dev-C++). Test program delivered with MPICH works fine.

BTW, should I edit somthing else in input file?

Problems with idm1 and idm1nl

Hello,

It seems that there is a problem with the built-in materials idm1 and its non-local version. Both of these materials return

giveSizeOfReducedStressStrainVector : unknown mode (_Unknown)

Using the debugger, I checked the values of variables related the Gp and they don't seem to be right. Like its numberOfGp=0 and materialMode=_Unknown!!

When I switch to any other material model, they work fine.

Arbitrary Numbering and Output

Hi Borek,

I have a model where the node numbering has some gaps in it. When I tried to report the displacement and reactions in the output file, it didn't save the reactions.
It seems that the arbitrary numbering procedure doesn't work properly.
I have attached the input file and part of the output.

Selective context file output

Dear Borek,

It has recently come to my attention that when one runs a simulation using the "-c" option it will create a context file for every single increment and the user does not have any control.
This might not be a big problem in implicit cases, but when it comes to dynamic nonlinear explicit simulations, it make a big difference. Writing to an ASCII file in every step takes both time and disk space. It quadrupled the time needed for one of my simulations and had to wait for 12 hours instead of 3.5 and also had to manage 250GB worth of context files.

It might be worth adding a feature similar to those found in the output manager and vtk export module to ask for an output every n increments rather than how it is now.

While running oofeg I get nice contour plots of stress and strain for my model. However when I try to oofeg shuts down completely. Do I need to use another program to see these values? Also, when I try the under the entire screen goes blank or there is an animation of the movement of the elements but the color contours do not appear. How can I have the color contours appear? Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the share of the great code.
When I learning the examples of the OOFEM, I want to see the outputs from the application. Since I compiled the OOFEM by Visual C++ , I didn't have the OOFEG for post. I modifed the outputs in the format of Gmsh, and viewed them by Gmsh successfully. But this is so slowly and complicated. So I want the OOFEM output the results in VTK format.
So how to export the result automaticly to VTK format? Edit the file of exportmodulemanager.c and .h ?

Under Integration and Non-Local Averaging

Dear Borek,

I'm running the damage propagation problem with my own material model that uses non-local averaging.
The problem is when I use under integration in my explicit dynamic analysis the damage pattern changes significantly.

Since the results of fully integration totally makes sense both in terms of load-displacement that I get and the damage pattern, I was wondering if you have any idea how under integration would change the response that dramatically?
I have attached a figure showing the damage patterns in the fully integrated (top) and under integrated (bottom).
