OOFEM.org is the open-source finite element code with object oriented architecture for solving mechanical, transport and fluid mechanics problems. This forum is intended to provide support to OOFEM users and promote collaboration between users.


To achieve our mission we provide our website’s visitors with the knowledge and tools we believe they will benefit from, to the best of our ability.


Feel free to use and translate our online content as long as you add a clearly visible link or reference to our site (on every page), and indicate if changes to our content were made. You may use such content in any reasonable manner, but not in any way that suggests OOFEM endorses you or your usage of our content. You may not use content from the member’s area for private or commercial purposes unless you have obtained the right to do so.

Privacy policy

To provide forum services to its members, OOFEM.org stores personal information such as e-mail, username and optionally real name and affiliation OOFEM.org does not store any sensitive personal data such as religious preferences, political views, sexual orientation, and credit card details. OOFEM.org will not sell users/members information, and will only share it with third parties as described in this document. We are committed to protect users/members information and use leading technologies and keep strict security standards to prevent any unauthorized access to it. The information we store: Posts, Comments, questions and similar information in OOFEM forum When a user/member uses OOFEM forum to post a question, give comments on posts answer a question, the internet address, your usage, may or may not be stored by our server, depending on your web browser personal settings.

Member information

Members are required to submit their username, email address, and optionally their real name, affiliation, and other social information while becoming a member using our online application form, which is stored in our database and is available to the profile page at the member’s area for the member to modify anytime with the exception to the user email address. OOFEM forum also stores data how members use the site (ratings, last visit etc.). Your stored personal information and order information are displayed on your account page once you become a member.

Access logs

OOFEM.org stores standard access logs of all visits to the site. This includes access time, IP address, and browser information.


OOFEM.org uses cookies. These are small text files that are stored on your computer. They make it possible to manage your account information, and to better serve you when you visit the website. Some cookies are stored on your computer until you delete them. It you want to avoid storing cookies, you can turn off the feature in your web browser.

In general, OOFEM.org will not share your details with any third party unless absolutely required to do so by law.

Forum rules

In order to keep the forums running well and to prevent problems, please follow these simple rules for the forums here. If you have any questions or problems, please feel free to contact us.

  • While debating and discussion is fine, we will not tolerate rudeness, insulting posts, personal attacks or purposeless inflammatory posts. Our decision is final in these matters.
  • Multiple or repeated posting in order to increase your post count is not allowed.
  • Advertising, spamming and trolling is not allowed. This includes using the forum, email, visitor messages, blog comments, picture comments and private message systems to spam other members.
  • Discussion of illegal activities such as software and music piracy and other intellectual property violations are not allowed.
  • Read up before asking! Use the search function before posting. Chances are your question has already been answered.
  • Also while these rules cover most common situations, they cannot anticipate everything. Consequently we reserve the right to take any actions we deem appropriate to ensure these forums are not disrupted or abused in any way.
